The purpose of my research is to develop
and employ advanced simulation and modeling techniques
to describe the behavior of biological molecules. I
apply sophisticated Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics
methods to predict the thermodynamic properties of systems
of interest.
Currently, I am engaged in understanding
the fundamental process of DNA hybridization. Hybridization
is essential to life, and is exploited in many modern
experimental techniques in genomic science, yet very
little is known about the process. In future work, I
will examine the manner in which regulatory proteins
recognize and bind to DNA at specific sites. Simulation
provides the tools to analyze, at an atomistic level,
the intricacies of these phenomena.
